What will your electric bill look like in the future?

See how EVs, heat pumps and rising PG&E rates could change your bill, and how much solar could save. Built for Northern California homes.

What solar and a battery could save

Based on a system sized to cover about 85% of your yearly use.

about 80–90% of your bill

About batteries: a battery stores daytime solar for evening use and keeps key circuits running in an outage. Final solar and battery sizing needs a design for your specific home.

How these numbers are calculated

Your current yearly use is estimated by dividing your yearly electric bill by the average cost per kWh for your rate plan. Added equipment uses the typical yearly amounts below.

The 25-year cost grows your first-year bill by the rate increase you picked, every year. Solar savings assume the system covers 85% of your use, with panel output dropping 0.5% a year as they age.

Results don't include hourly solar exports, fixed monthly charges, equipment cost, battery operation, taxes or future changes to PG&E rules.

About this planning tool

Is this a solar proposal?

No. This is an educational planning calculator. It's not a formal solar proposal, engineering design, utility bill guarantee or financial promise.

Are the savings guaranteed?

No. Actual savings depend on your electricity use, PG&E rate plan, taxes, fees, solar production, roof conditions, battery design, equipment, weather and future utility changes.

Can I use this without installing solar?

Yes. You can use it to see how an EV, heat pump or other electric equipment could change your bill, whether or not solar is right for your home.

Why email my results?

It gives you a copy of your choices and results to review later, share with family, or use to start a more detailed conversation.

What's needed for a design specific to my home?

A detailed review looks at 12 months of PG&E usage data, roof layout, shade, electrical panel capacity, future EV or heat pump plans, backup goals and installation space.
